I don’t know if this is the BEST advice I’ve ever received, but a couple of things I always remember (and have lived by): never tell anyone how much you make. Never compare salaries. It is a lose-lose scenario. I’ve also always abided by these two rules: dress for the job you want, not the one you have. it’s always struck me how unprofessional young women especially dress (and I’m only 35!). And, my last nugget – never take a job for money, never leave a job over money – find work you love and be great at it – the money will come.
Both great advice. I know it is sometimes hard to make decisions NOT based on salary, but your happiness is always way more important than money. And I believe working at a job that makes you happy is worth more than any salary.
